Comments
Lightly hopped
Here is another traditionally low-hop variety getting hopped up by Americans.
New World Porter came out of the bottle very dark with a tiny beige head. Hops are the first thing I smell but coffee is in there too. The primary taste I get when drinking is bitter grapefruit with coffee and dark chocolate. Compared with other hopped-up porters and stouts, this one is not nearly as out-of-balance as the others. While hops are at the front, they don't cover up everything else like the nightmarish drink of SweetWater's Happy Ending I had last month. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and fairly smooth.
