Pours a jet black with a LOT of a tan head. Be careful pouring this beer, the carbonation is a little out of control. Long retention of the head.

Nose is heavy on roasted and burnt malt (coffee, bitter chocolate) aromas. If you like the typical dark beer aromas, they are hear in spades - if you don't, you can probably skip the rest of this review.

Strong on the bitter, burnt malt flavors. Bitterness is quite high, and there is a fairly long aftertaste. Although there are some nice bitter flavors, after about half the glass of tastes a little one note. Needs something to balance. The flavors get increasingly intense after the beer sits out for about 20 or 30 minutes.

Fairly strong and full body, but a lot of carbonation still gives it a prickly feeling in the mouth. It took several minutes of pouring and waiting for the head to die down enough to drink.

The Nunmoere Black certainly does live up to its name. This is a dark beer with strong and intense dark malt flavors.
