Taste the coffee, not the bitterness
This is the best beer I've had from Old Black Bear Brewing in Madison, Alabama. It came a very dark caramel, almost black in the stemmed glass. A beige pinky-thick head topped it off. The head shrank to a ring and left pretty lacing as I drank.
This smells of coffee and a puff of grass. The grass adds a nice lightness to the otherwise black coffee smell. It is fairly simple but very pleasant.
Coffee, of course, still dominates on my tongue when I taste it. There is a bit of chocolate and a slight berry-like presence in the finish. Quite a lovely surprise!
This is such a great stout. I hope it becomes a standard release for Old Black Bear because I would order it quite frequently.
