A beer for a hot day or a spicy meal!
The Red Stripe Lager pours an attractive clear golden yellow, with a finger of a white foamy head. The head has decent retention, with a little bit of lacing.
The nose has both malt and corn, with a very subtle grassy hop aroma as well. Taste is similar, primarily consisting of malt and corn, but a very subtle hop grassiness helps balance that out.
The beer has a medium-light bodied, and pretty high carbonation levels. The beer feels nice and crisp in the mouth, and this is one of the better adjunct lagers you can easily find for a hot day (or spicy food). Refreshing.
Sweet Lager...from Pennsylvania
Red Stripe was slightly darker than champagne with nearly as much carbonation. A pretty white two finger head formed and quickly left. Smells quite sweet but in an oddly unidentifiable way. The taste is a quick burst of sweet corn, grassy hops, and then it's gone.
Of the lagers I've drank from the big beer companies, this is the least offensive to me because of the lingering sweetness doesn't stick around long enough to be cloying. But, in the end, there's not much flavor here.
