Comments
It's not Scottish, and not crap!
A perfectly clear but deep reddish brown with a finger of an off white smooth head.
As expected, there are lots of caramel, toffee, and malt aromas with a hint of a smokey and almost sour finish. The flavor is equally malty, with a more noticeable smoky flavor from the peated malts, which is balanced out nicely with the sweeter caramel malt flavors. The aftertaste is a little bit longer than I expected, but the lingering flavors are pleasant and enjoyable.
The malt is the star here, but it's am excellent choice - this a great beer to enjoy the with food or to sip by the fire on a cold winter night.
