Description:

Our Irish-Style Extra Stout amplifies the traditional drier versions from Ireland for a bolder, black brew. The addition of both roasted barley and Dark Crystal malted barley give Extra Stout undertones of chocolate, molasses and dried fruit. The beer is generously hopped with East Kent Goldings to balance the sweetness from the malted barley. (Description provided by company)

A half finger of a tan head. Beer itself is a dark brown to tan in color, with nice and strong lacing.

Malty and chocolate roasted nose. Earthy hops, but the strong roasted malt.

Very smooth, but strong flavors. Well hidden alcohol, but it does come out a bit at the finish. Strong dark chocolate and some roasted coffee. Medium bitterness.

Medium body and carbonation.

Very smooth and easy drinking, but a very nice example of the Irish-style stout. Simultaneously both dry and subtly sweet, this is a great beer for a cold winter's evening. Don't let it get too close to the fire, though!
