Smells good, tastes pretty good, feels lousy
Shake chocolate porter poured into the glass really dark with a fat finger, tan, bubbly head that lingered and left nice lacing. I am get mostly chocolate with some cream and coffee in the aroma. Taste is half coffee and half chocolate. The porter seems really light bodied, nearly watery. It brought the overall drinking experience down.
Deceiving Nose!
Pitch black with a medium tan head. Head is fairly slow to recede and leaves some noticeable lace marks as the beer goes down.
Dark roasted malt, with a hint of dark chocolate and roasted coffee. Lots of the more bitter aromas - the chocolate is quite subtle.
Malt flavors are strong but there is a lot more dark chocolate and nutty flavors than the aroma along with a little bit of chocolate sweetness. A little bit of dark, roasted coffee as well. A fairly long aftertaste, although the body was a little lighter than I expected.
Despite a slightly generic nose and a lighter body, the Shake Chocolate Porter delivers well on both the chocolate and the porter!
