It is EXACTLY what it says it is
With a name like Sticky Toffee Pudding Ale, you know it is a dessert beer. Don't think it is anything other than that. I poured it into a glass to see the dark caramel color and a tiny beige head that quickly melted away. As my nose closed in on the glass, I was already starting to get a cavity from the sugary sweet smell. It is quite amazing how strong the sugar, caramel, toffee smells are. If you closed your eyes, you would expect to open them to see the gooiest caramel pastry you have ever seen. But I've had plenty of these sweet-smelling beers that either couldn't get the taste to be anywhere nearly as pronounced or where the flavor seems to only exist in a syrup that lingers in the beer. In this case, Wells & Young did a superb job of perfectly matching the smell and taste. The flavor is consistently sweet and sugary with a slight bitter finish just to remind you it really is beer. It felt smooth on the tongue with a subtle fizz.
Did W&Y deliver what they promised on the label? Absolutely. Is this a beer I want to have again? No. Not me.

Wells Sticky Toffee Pudding pours from the bottle a root beer colored brew with little to no head. Smells of lazy Sunday morning pancakes and syrup. Not quite as sweet as anticipated with flavors of caramel, butter, maple with a nice malt finish. A lovely dessert beer to linger over.
