Sierra Nevada and hops go hand in hand. What began as a crazy idea scribbled in a pub eventually became our newest year-round hop bomb, Torpedo Extra IPA. The first beer to feature our “Hop Torpedo”—a revolutionary dry-hopping device that controls how much hop aroma is imparted into beer without adding additional bitterness. Torpedo Extra IPA is an aggressive yet balanced beer with massive hop aromas of citrus, pine and tropical fruit. (Description provided by company)

A Balanced AIPA
The Sierra Nevada Torpedo pours a hazy orange amber, with about two and a half fingers of a foamy head, which has long retention and excellent lacing.
The nose is hoppy, which you'd expect from an American IPA, but not as bitter or overpowering as many IPAs. The obvious citrus and pine notes create a pleasing aroma. The taste is very balanced from an IPA, with some crispness from the malt upfront, and the citrus and piney hops at the end. The pine flavor sticks around, but it isn't overly bitter or unpleasant.
The mouthfeel is moderately full and the carbonation is about average. After some not-so-balanced IPAs, I was a little worried about this one, but this is very nicely done and well balanced.
