Legendary showman P.T. Barnum once noted, "Everyone drank cider-spirits called 'Gumption'." Our Woodchuck Gumption™ celebrates the spirit of P.T. Barnum and those with the Gumption to follow their own path. Gumption is handcrafted in Vermont using a blend of fresh juice from common eating apples and dry European bittersweet cider apples for a unique drinking experience. This cider has a sweet apple aroma with fresh apple upfront taste and dry finishing notes. Just like all of our ciders, Woodchuck Gumption is naturally gluten-free. (Description provided by company)

Gumption is complex without being fussy
Woodchuck's Gumption was a deep gold with a white ring and ample bubbles climbing the glass.
Smells of baked apples and fresh apples with a white wine huff binding them.
Buttery, cinnamon apple comes first, but before that builds up a winter apple feel, a crisp Granny Smith-like crispness (though not as tart) cleanses the palate with a pleasant dryness.
Fairly medium-bodied that leaves a nice coating on the tongue.
A cider without the sweetness
Looks like a normal cider - no head, clear and an apple juice-like color.
Aroma is typical of a cider - dominated by apple. I have hard time distinguishing this from an ordinary Woodchuck, but I don't have them back to back, so maybe there is a difference.
Flavor wise, Gumption has both a bit less sweetness and a dryer finish - both characteristics I very much like. The apple flavors are both sweet and slightly tart, with a bit of an apple pie-like flavor. A nice balance of flavors, and they lower overall sweetness makes the flavors stand out all the more.
I much prefer this subtly sweetened cider to some of the more sickly-sweet versions, and the dry finish lets this cider blend well with all sorts of food - from tailgating to a fancy dinner!
