Almost black when poured in the glass with a thick tan head. I was surprised with how subdued the smell was with a burned sweetness, coffee, and cocoa. Taste was similar with some bitterness and licorice. Good body. Whatever gave me the spell and taste of burnt sugar turned me against it. There is a wildness to the flavor that I just didn't care for - not a booziness or hoppy bitterness, just a charcoal/dark caramel streak that didn't please my tastebuds.
