A blood-red beer
Pours a deep, dark (but clear if held up to a bright light) blood red with a full finger of an off white head.
A nice mix of bready, caramel and toffee malts and some bright American piney hops in the nose.
The pine needle taste comes out much stronger in the taste than in the aroma, but it isn't excessive or off putting. The finish is surprisingly quick and clean. The malt flavors aren't as pronounced as they were in the nose, but do provide a nice backbone for the hops to shine. The overall bitterness is moderate.
A smooth drinking mix featuring all of the hop flavors from a traditional American IPA and the sweeter malt flavors of an Irish Red Ale. If you're a fan of either of those styles, the Nosferatu is worth a try.
