Chocolate Gateway Beer
Nothing aesthetically offensive about this wheat beer masquerading as a porter/stout, unless the thinness grates on you. Shockolate Wheat from Shock Top pours out like a porter/stout with a dark caramel brew with an off-white cap that receded to a ring. Smell is strong on chocolate and vanilla. Taste is mostly milk chocolate with a bit of coffee bitterness. Feels very thin as I drink it, but the thinness seems to be there for ease of chugging and is amply carbonated so it doesn't feel watery.
Nothing bad and nothing outstanding. A good choice to keep around for friends who are a bit afraid of unfamiliar beer styles or the malt bitterness that is stronger in most porters/stouts.
