Pinstripe Stout is our winter seasonal, a rich, chocolatey dessert stout that comes in at 8% ABV and has freshly ground local coffee added in the fermenter. We took a portion of last year's batch and have been aging it in freshly dumped Bourbon Barrels from Kentucky. The result is Pinstripe with more complex flavors of vanilla, char, oak, and bourbon to play against the coffee and chocolate. This bourbon infused dessert beer can now be referred to as a nightcap. Bourbon Beer
Bought a 22oz bomber and shared it with family.
Black as motor oil with a tan finger head. Laces the glass beautifully.
BAM!!! The bourbon smacks me in the face as my nose nears the glass. I strained to ignore the bourbon and smelled coffee and lemon tones. Disappointed to discover that the taste was similar - the bourbon overpowers the tongue until it finally decides to reveal coffee and chocolate. Body is nice on the tongue.
Did I mention the bourbon? I'm willing to try normal Pinstripe Stout because I really didn't get much out of this bottle than bourbon smell/taste and stout looks and mouthfeel. Any bourbon friends of mine that have passing interest in beer are candidates for the Bourbon Barrel Pinstripe Stout.
