Coffee Cocoa Nib Stout
Double Stuff Pinstripe Stout from Blue Pants Brewery was on tap at the Old Town Beer Exchange in Huntsville, so I thought I'd give it a try. This is a very dark beer which won't let light peek thru, but still retains a dark brown color instead of black. Finger thick tan head segued to a ring. Great lacing.
Coffee hits the nose immediately with a bit of chocolate.
Taste also features bitter coffee first. The chocolate comes along second and its sweetness tames the shot of bitter.
Medium bodied with a full flavor that encourages sipping.
So many stouts have a blend of coffee and chocolate in the taste. I found Double Stuff's shifting flavor from bitter coffee to sweet chocolate interesting and enjoyable.
