This is a new twist on one of our Flagship beers, the Astronut Brown Ale. It’s still the same much loved classic recipe, only this time we’ve added to all that nutty goodness with a not-so-secret ingredient…a healthy dollop of peanut butter! This one will satisfy the sweet tooth in all of us without even picking up a candy bar…unless you count the intergalactic trip your taste buds will take straight to the Milky Way! Bought a pint of Peanut Butter Brown in the Rocket Republic taproom. It was brought to me a dark caramel in the glass with a ring of beige.
I get peanut butter immediately on the nose, followed closely by coffee. This smells a lot like some peanut butter porters I've had.
The taste differs from those porters, though. The peanut butter remains in front but I get more roasted nuts than I do coffee.
Feels on the lighter side of a medium bodied beer. There is enough carbonation to keep it from feeling too smooth.
No, really, if you were to do a blind taste test of PB porters and snuck in Rocket Republic's Peanut Butter Astronut Brown, I question who would notice it being outside of the style. But, regardless of style, it would probably be in the upper tier of those judged.
