Description:
Bock has been brewed since 1913, almost as long as the Spoetzl Brewery has been in business. However, it wasn't until a few decades ago that Shiner began producing Bock year-round. Bock was considered a lent beer, and therefore was only made around that season. Today 73% of the beer made at the Spoetzl Brewery is Bock. (Description provided by company)

Comments
Okay
Was a dark cola brown with no head. It smelled of roasted malt and the taste was malt with some slight hop bitterness and a peppery finish. Felt okay on the tongue. Nothing interesting about the beer, nor anything offensive.
About what you'd expect
A full, off white head and a deep, dark but transparent amber make for a decent looking glass, but the head is gone within about 15 seconds, so enjoy it while it lasts.
Lots of malt. A caramel and toffee sweetness and a slight, subtle, earthy hop aroma. These earthy and herbal flavors are more prominent in the flavor than in the nose, but they provide a nice balance to the sweeter, malt flavors in the quick finish.
Even with the extra hop flavors, the bitterness is low - Shiner Bock is an easy drinking beer and a decent mass-market example of the style.
