Description:

A dark, malty India Black Ale with a huge hop profile presenting itself through roasted malts. We brewed 2XIBA with epically dark muscovado sugar which imparts some color and residual sugar while helping the ale yeast achieve 8.0% abv. Fans of our Iniquity Imperial Black Ale will no doubt be reminded of the critically lauded beer in the fall seasonal 2XIBA. We reimagined a favorite retired beer, creating a perfect addition to our seasonal 2X series lineup. Autumn will be a little darker this year! (Description provided by company)

2XIBA poured very dark brown in my pint glass with a finger thick beige head. The head very slowly melted into a film. Does not leave much lacing at all. I get roasted and burned smells from the glass. Roasted malts, chocolate, some smoke and some earthiness fill my nose. Dark malt bitterness instantly hits the tongue and is followed by an earthy and citrus squeeze of hop bitterness takes over. While I am not a fan of the flavors, I am tickled by how it tastes and the way the malt and hops interact. This only seemed to deepen as it warmed. I'm giving this 3s for Taste and Overall, but on a different day, I may put 4s there instead.
