Why go Watou when you can go St. Bernardus?
Watou Tripel is brewed by the same brewery that does St Bernardus Tripel and, IMO, is an inferior version of a tripel. Since they sit side by side on the shelf, go for the green labeled tripel instead.
The tripel poured a honey gold with a dense, frothy white head which left a wake of lacing when sipping.
I smell apricots, apples, and a hint of white wine.
The taste is a bit on the simplistic side for tripels I've had; with a fruity wine front end that has a sour twist on the aftertaste.
Carbonation is abundant but not overbearing, while providing the Watou Tripel some heft and a bite to the sour aftertaste.
